At one point on tour Anne pulled out a small anthology of writing by James Thurber, an illustrator and columnist who was perhaps a humorist by accident. We decided to make use of that text wherein Anne improvised an on-the-spot setting to the words, in the form of an advice column about animals that usually borders on the absurd. Nathan and Adam improvised an accompaniment and interludes, and the result was a blast. We made an attempt to replicate that experiment here, and hopefully will do so again.
We <3 this band. Their live sets are often more frenetic than the recordings we've heard but it's all sensitive, impassioned improvised music at its best. Broadcloth
